The Xbox Accessories app tells me that the firmware is 1.0.62.0 PDP Wired Controller for Xbox One - Tested by myself. I was surprised that this one didn't work, since it's officially licensed by Microsoft, while the knock-off JAMSWALL one worked. Funnily enough, it works on the menu portion when selecting a PC to connect to and the Steam Link settings, but once you open Steam Big Picture mode, it becomes non-responsive. Is responsive, but not all buttons work and is temperamental. Xbox One S via bluetooth - tested by HandSlander. Same issue as the Gamesir, it just jumps all over, making it unusable. Funny thing is, Steam recognizes it as a Generic Gamepad, rather than an Xbox controller. However, I wouldn't recommend this one, since it feels quite cheap in the hands.
I guess the internals are identical enough to the 360 controller that the Steam app recognizes it as one.
